Today I have just finished reading Divergent. Spoiler Alert! The main character, Tris Prior lives in the future version of Chicago where there are 5 factions, each one thinking their virtue is the best. The 5 factions are dauntless, erudite, abnegation, amity, and candor. Tris was a part of abnegation growing up but she decides to join dauntless when she is 16 because she doesn't feel like she is selfless enough to be a part of abnegation. Throughout the book Tris learns that she is divergent and she doesn't actually belong to a faction. As the book goes on you learn that Four (a trainer) is also divergent. Once he learns that she is divergent, Four helps Tris think and act like dauntless so that she can pass her exam. Towards the end of the book erudite is trying to take over and control the city by injecting everyone with a liquid that will make them do anything erudite says and they are also doing this in an effort to get rid of divergents because they are seen as a threat. Four and Tris are both divergents and they go to shut down this operation but have many obstacles which they obviously overcome and they end the reign of erudite. I would rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 because it was predictable and didn't have any major surprises. Overall I still think it is a good book and would recommend it to anyone who like anything related dystopia/eutopia.
