Brisingr

After just coming back from Winter Break i'm really not in the mood for posting blogs but got to do it anyway. Where as most kids go on vacation, I stayed at home and did nothing except read... and I did a lot of reading. Over break I finished most of the third book in the Inheritance Cycle, a series that I started in the first semester of the year. I really like the book so far although I still think that Eragon is the best in the series so far.

This book begins right where Eldest ended. Eragon, Saphira, and Roran are traveling to the city of Helgrind where the Ra'zac are(the creature that killed Eragon's and Roran's uncle). Here Eragon and Roran kill one Ra'zac and save Katrina, the lover of Roran. Eragon stays behind here in Helgrind to kill the other Ra'zac, which he does and once he does he goes back to the Varden where Katrina and Roran are to be married.

After this Saphira and Eragon go to Ellesmera to train. At this point in the book a very important fact is revealed to Eragon. Saphira told Eragon about a memory that Brom once concealed. Brom told Saphira to tell Eragon when the time was right. At this point in the book Eragon learns that Brom was actually his father. This is a very crucial point in the book because Eragon is shocked and his mind is foggy for a while, but after he gets over it, he goes over to Rhunon, once the blacksmith for dragon riders, and asked her to make a sword for him and after a while of pleading the sword is made. Eragon names the sword Brisingr(now we know where the title of the book came from).

After getting this far in the book I feel that it is an excellent book but as I said at the top Eragon still feels like the best book in the series so far. I feel like this book is moving far too slow just like Eldest did. The plot of this book is excellent but I personally think that it is starting to get a little repetitive with all the fighting and battles. By no means am I saying that this is a bad book, it adds new elements to the book every now and then. Well I'll finish the book, let's see how it goes.
